BERECHE 05 XBT LA CRAN
WINE ADVOCATE 92 POINTS-"The ripeness and radiance of the vintage comes through in Bereche’s (2005) Le Cran. The new oak is way down from 2004 (just 5%) but there is plenty of generosity and amplitude in the glass. Round, sweet and enveloping, the 2005 impresses for its balance and sense of proportion. Hints of lemon, pastry and white flowers wrap around the gentle finish. The 2005 is undoubtedly attractive, but it doesn’t have the sheer energy of the 2004. Dosage was 2 grams per liter. Disgorged June 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017."1 1/2 STARS CHAMPAGNE GUIDE.NET-"Made of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, from two parcels on the mid-slope in Ludes, this is big and bold, reflecting the ripeness of the vintage in its ample fragrance and broad, textural richness. Its dark fruit flavors feel firm, concentrated and almost meaty, showing a characteristic 2005 earthiness and graininess yet remaining clean and tautly focused, with fresh acidity lending finesse. Its finish is long and full-bodied, with a dense aroma and fine balance, and overall, this is an excellent 2005, promising to develop well in the future. This bottle was disgorged in July of 2011 and dosed at 2 g/l, and even nine months later, it still feels notably youthful: another year or two in the cellar should allow it to relax and show more complexity. Last tasted: 4/12."
