BARREL 27 2009 PROPRIETARY RED "BULL BY THE HORNS" CENTRAL COAST 750mL

This is a powerhouse blend of Petite Verdot, Syrah, and Tempranillo that possesses a seductive nose of red and black currants powdered with cocoa, blueberry and black plum liqueur undercurrents set off by wild spice notes of star anise, rose petal, licorice and fennel. On the palate, this freight train of a wine delivers loads of spiced plum and dark berry fruit, supported by layers of Mexican chocolate, Chinese black tea, and blood orange all framed in spice notes of caraway, toasted vanilla, cigar box and sweet black pepper. The pure, powerful finish stretches on to the horizon supported by great acidity and well developed tannins. Some Paso Robles locals say this is possibly the World's Best Steak Wine!

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 91 POINTS - "These value-priced efforts are made by McPrice Myers and offer ridiculously good drinking for not much money. The wines are, generally speaking, upfront and fruit-loaded, yet always offer solid complexity, good richness and overall very well-made profiles.

"A blend of Syrah, Tempranillo and Petit Verdot, the 2009 Bull by the Horns is the most structured of the bunch. Showing a deep purple color, it delivers loads of dried spice-laced red and black fruits, licorice, leafy herbs, leather and meaty qualities to go with a medium to full-bodied, structured, yet well-textured palate. Balanced, rich and with solid freshness, it, too, needs another year or so in bottle and will shine over the coming 5-6 years. Drink 2014-2019."
