BAROLO 06 PIRA,E. CANNUBI
WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "The 2006 Barolo Cannubi exudes the warmth of this south-facing site in its open, generous bouquet. The Cannubi possesses more opulence and roundness than the firmer Via Nuova in an expansive, generous expression of dark red fruit that covers the palate from start to finish. Sweet spices and flowers add complexity on the long, round close. This is another drop-dead gorgeous Barolo from Chiara Boschis. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2026."This is one Piedmont’s smallest and most highly respected producers. The Pira and Borgogno families are two of the oldest names in the commune of Barolo, both having been growing wine grapes for generations. The two came together in 1990 when Chiara Bochis from the Borgogno family purchased the Pira family holdings. Production is tiny—only 800cs of the “Cannubi,” but this bottling shows why “Cannubi” is the most famous site in Piedmont.
