over over his uncle's Valpolicella estate-with its prized old vineyards in the heart of the Classico zone-in the mid-1980's. By the late nineties, his style had matured, and his wines had become world-famous for their incredible intensity of fruit. The key, , is not only the age of his vines but the fact that they are nearly all naturally low-yielding ancient clones: Corvinone (40%), Corvina Grossa (25%) and Rondinella (20%).Tommaso's first goal every year is to make the best Amarone Classico possible. An incredible Amarone value.

A ripe, velvety red, with a fine frame of supple tannins, displaying flavors of prune, kirsch, bitter herbs and loamy earth, with just a hint of savory-sweet sun-dried tomato. There's a subtle juiciness, with a sweet, smoky note that builds toward the long finish.

of Amarone with loads of ripe fruit sweetness. You don’t find the thorny notes of oxidation you sometimes get with Amarone. This expression opens with an inky, impenetrable appearance and shows lingering notes of exotic spice, smoked bacon, grilled herb and blackberry preserves."

ANTONIO GALLONI 93 POINTS - "The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico boasts serious power and depth. Mocha, chocolate, blackberry jam and graphite all flesh out in a powerful, full-bodied wine endowed with serious depth. This is an especially opulent, full-bodied vintage for Allegrini's Amarone. I am not sure how the 2009 will age, but it is fabulous right now. The super-ripe, racy style is best enjoyed at the dinner table. There is a lot to like here."
WINE SPECTATOR 92 POINTS - "Harmonious, with depth to the layers of ferrous mineral, pure black cherry, anise, aromatic tea leaf and herb notes, showing a sense of overall finesse to the frame of fine-grained tannins and lightly juicy acidity."
