over over his uncle's Valpolicella estate-with its prized old vineyards in the heart of the Classico zone-in the mid-1980's. By the late nineties, his style had matured, and his wines had become world-famous for their incredible intensity of fruit. The key, , is not only the age of his vines but the fact that they are nearly all naturally low-yielding ancient clones: Corvinone (40%), Corvina Grossa (25%) and Rondinella (20%).Tommaso's first goal every year is to make the best Amarone Classico possible. An incredible Amarone value.

A ripe, velvety red, with a fine frame of supple tannins, displaying flavors of prune, kirsch, bitter herbs and loamy earth, with just a hint of savory-sweet sun-dried tomato. There's a subtle juiciness, with a sweet, smoky note that builds toward the long finish.

Monte Faustino, named for its location in the hilltop hamlet of Monte Faustini, is located in the heart of the historic Classico zone of Valpolicella. The wines are vinified in an original 16th century cellar that was renovated by the Fornaser family who first started harvesting grapes here in the early 20th century.

Valpolicella Classico is made in the traditional manner from indigenous grape varietals partially dried for three to four months before pressing. Aged in Slavonian oak barrels for three years and in the bottle for at least eight months, the result is impressive and full-flavored. Typical aromas of ripe fruit, fruit preserve and cherry are immediately perceived on first olfactory examination. Particularly striking is the incredible long length that lingers on the palate, when the wine displays all its strength through a warm an elegant body.

WINE ENTHUSIAST 92 POINTS - " Smoke, graphite, blue flower, cedar and black pepper aromas take center stage on this bold, structured wine. Velvety tannins support the dense black cherry, plum and blackberry flavors, while notes of freshly ground pepper and nutmeg add depth. Thanks to fresh acidity itís already surprisingly drinkable but it also displays aging potential. Drink through 2022."

proportions and soft contours. The ensemble of fruit on display is bright and bold with a level of dark fruit intensity that is difficult to achieve with appassimento. The traditional blend is 70% Corvina and Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, 5% Croatina and 5% Oseleta aged for three years in new tonneaux. The best part, however, is how the wine wraps so thickly over the palate. It coats it beautifully. This wine should wait a year or two before being served."
