ANNE AMIE 09 PINOT NOIR WILLAMETTE
The first wine that caught our attention from this Oregon stage producer was their Mueller-Thurgau; a white variety that is not often planted. But that wine was so clean and refreshing, we had to see what else was in their bag of tricks. Happily, we found their Willamette Valley Pinot Noir to be delicous, too! Anne Amie's estate and all vineyards they get fruit from are Salmon Safe and LIVE certified, which means they are dedicated to restoring and maintaining healthy watersheds for minimal impact on aquifers and wildlife. The 2009 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of Pommard and Dijon clones, and was aged for 10 months in both new and neutral Frech oak barrels. The wine is very fresh and crisp, reminding us of lovely Premier Cru reds from Burgundy. The aromas are of blackberry, black cherry, lavender, and a kis of tobacco. The flavors are bright and intriguing, with black cherry, boysenberry, cola nut, and a hint of anise. Paired along with food, this wine is a knockout!
