DAVID ARTHUR 2012 CABERNET SAUVIGNON "THREE ACRE" NAPA VALLEY 750mL

The David Arthur Estate is located high on Pritchard Hill, on the eastern side of the Napa Valley. The rough mountain terrain and rocky red soils provide ideal growing conditions for wine grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1978, Donald Long and his 28 year old son David began the epic job of building roads, clearing land and finally planting wine grapes. Although David lacked a formal viticultural education, he learned hands-on by working in the vineyards and cellars of local wineries such as the Chappellet and Joseph Phelps. The first vintage of Chardonnay was harvested in 1985, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon in the nineties. A s his experience and knowledge of the land grew, David learned the ability of these hills to grow the very finest wine grapes. Today, with the help of a highly insightful team, David Arthur continues to cultivate rich concentrated wine grapes that in turn help them craft distinctive and memorable wines.

ANTONIO GALLONI 90 POINTS - "Winemaker Nile Zacherle has done a terrific job with these new and upcoming releases. If there is one word to define the David Arthur Cabernets it is: precise. The wines capture the essence of these Pritchard Hill sites, with a decidedly mid-weight, classic sense of structure by Napa Valley standards. David Arthur is a bit different from most other Napa Valley wineries in that several of the wines reflect the distinctly Italianate aesthetic of proprietor David Long. The Meritaggio is a Sangiovese based blend, while the estate's Nebbiolo is intriguing. But in the end, Cabernet Sauvignon rules the day on the slopes of Pritchard Hill."

"A juicy, voluptuous wine, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Three Acre fleshes out nicely in the glass. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, new oak and leather are all laced together in an attractive Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next few years. The silky, layered finish only adds to the wine's immediacy and sheer appeal. Drinking window: 2014 - 2020."
