AARON 10 PS PASO ROBLES

Producers of Petite Sirah need to take note: there's a young gun out there who's going to show you some new moves! Winemaker Aaron Jackson is one amazing guy! He fully commits to whatever the task at hand is. So being the hardcore surfer that he is, you can imagine how dedicated to winemaking Aaron must be when he has to leave those firing Central Coast point breaks to head for the vineyards! His wines have been staples at our store for years, and it's amazing how he can make Petite Sirah taste so good, keep it complex yet easy to drink, and sell such a tasty wine for a reasonable price!

Aaron's Vintage and Tasting Notes: "2010 was the coolest year I have ever experienced (until 2011 came along), with such a cool, slow ripening period in summer and fall that I wondered if the vines would even make it to the finish line. In the end all of my vineyards were picked in October, almost a month later than usual, but the extremely long hangtime allowed for super-slow flavor development and incredible acid levels.

"The resulting 2010 Petite is a wine that truly reflects the vintage, with awesome aromatics and a nice dose of savory, cool vintage characters. Black pepper, smoked herbs, and game frame up boysenberry, black plum, and blackerry. Wonderful acidity highlights the black fruit and spice elements, followed by moderate, grippy tannins. All the elements hint at longer-term aging, whereby I believe the wine will truly blossom. Only the very best 12 barrels made it into this years blend, making production a mere 297 cases. The blend is a makeup of 4 vineyards all grown on calcareous soils, 40% in Westside Paso, and 60% from the Eastern portions of Templeton."
